Visa!
I am happy and relieved to report that we have received Lan's US Visa, an IR-3 visa, which allows her to enter the US on a Vietnamese Passport and "become" a US Citizen as her feet touch US soil. (A legal fiction I find very interesting from a professional standpoint.)
We tried to get out of Hanoi on Korean Air's midnight flight to Seoul tonight, but, unfortunately, there are no more seats. We are waitlisted for Sunday, but, if that doesn't happen, we can definitely leave on Tuesday, which is still 5 days earlier than expected. Trying to look on the bright side and remind myself that now we will have the chance to see the Museum of Ethnology and Lenin Park.
Relieved that the paperwork went through without a hitch and that the only bureaucracy left to deal with is the airlines,

I am sorry you didn't make the flight, but so happy you have that Visa in hand! I had a heart murmer as a child....and for whatever reason, I don't have it now...enjoy the museum! I will hope you can make it out on Sunday!
We are happy to know you are coming home soon. V has a heart murmur as well. Really- no big deal.

Oh thank goodness! It seems like there is always something to get you stressed out with this process. If it's not one thing , it's another. We finally got Nolan's passport. :-) Then I talk to Diana and she says there is no chance of us going before Tet now. :-( So yet another thing.....reading your blog helps me keep the faith that it will all work out....eventually.
YEAH!!!!!! Take a deep breathe and enjoy the rest of your time there!! OK, I'm selfish, because I still hope I get to meet you all!! Passports and Plane tickets are in transit....should be here any hour.

YAY! It was just a few weeks ago that you were worried about in-country delays! Who would have thunk that you'd breeze through so easily and so quickly! Can't wait to see pics of your family stateside!!!!!!!

YES!!!!! Now there's no more stress about getting paperwork done! Sorry about the flight though. Sunday is your day...I just know it!
hooray for "visa day!" Wish you could get out sooner, but tuesday isn't that far off. I haven't been posting much, but know that I check everyday to see how you guys are doing.
