Impressions from David

We got to meet with Lan's foster mother and sister.  That was difficult.  It was obvious that they love Lan and are sad to see her go.  They have had her in their house for four years.  They are also "losing" their other foster son on the same day.  The other family that is here is adopting the son that Lan's foster mother was fostering.  Her house went from two children to none on the same day.  It was good to meet her and know that she loves Lan and that Lan was cared for, but it was very emotional on both sides.

We also got to see Lan again today for a few hours.  She warmed up to Gretchen and let her feed her and hold her most of the time.  She, however, seemed suspect of me and would only look at me.  She refused food from me and did not want me to touch her.  But it is good that she is bonding with one of us.  We know that it will come for me as well.

This is such a process and you two have the most love to give Lan. We are all so happy for you. Have you been able to talk to Gabe? I bet he is sitting on pins and needles.

As happy & excited & thrilled as you guys are to finally be bringing Lan home, I can't imagine the heartache of her foster family--losing 2 precious children in the same day!!!!!!!!! We'll be praying for ALL involved in this process.

Enjoy your sweet girl!

That would be hard on that family, but it is nice to know she was with good people that loved her. If she is not used to having a foster father, it may take a little time to warm up to her new Dad, but it will definitely come with time!

Wow - I am so glad you got to meet the foster mother and how incredibly hard it must be for her to lose both her "babies" at once. I am glad things continue to go well with Lan. She'll be a Daddy's girl in no-time!

Oh my gosh. What a blessing for Lan to have a foster mom who loved her so much. I pray that her foster mom is comforted by meeting you and knowing what a wonderful family she now has. What a loving sacrifice she has made. Give her time David and she will be loving you and be "Daddy's girl"....watch out, little girls have a way of wrapping their Daddy's around their little finger!! Praying that all goes well with your G & R and look forward to hearing all about it.

What a caring woman she must be to foster two kids at the same time... and how hard that has to be to let them both go. But how neat that Lan has a "foster brother" coming to America that you can keep in touch with!
Great to hear the bonding is going well... it's very common for them to bond with one parent first, I'm sure she'll be a Daddy's Girl in no time.

That is so wonderful that you were able to spend some time with Lan's foster mother. What special memories you will have for Lana when she is older.
